Missionaries in Action Ministries was established in 1989 by Dr. John R. Wisner and his wife, Rev. Dorris B. Wisner. The Ministry was established to spread the Word of God and win the lost in Kenya, East Africa. This has been done through outdoor crusades, building churches, starting Sunday Schools, Kindergarten/primary schools, as well as special church meetings and Women's Conferences.
The first church building was finished in 1993 in the little dusty, bush village of Kangemi, about 45 minutes from the nearest town of Machakos. In this same area, another church was built in 1995 in Mbaanai. And the third church building was finished, to the Glory of God, in 1999 in the crossroads village of Makutano. Primary schools are being held during the week in each of these churches for children who cannot afford government school fees and uniforms. They are fed one meal a day, and are taught Bible verses and songs about Jesus each day! A technical training school to teach tailoring is held in the Kangemi church where young ladies are taught a trade, keeping them from having to resort to desperate measures to earn enough shillings to keep them alive.
Revs. John and Dorris have seen thousands won to the Lord during outdoor crusades throughout the country of Kenya, including Mombasa in the southern part on the Indian Ocean, to Kisumu in the northwestern district, bordering on Lake Victoria. Hundreds of Muslims have renounced Islam and accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, and many miraculous healings have taken place. John has conducted many seminars for young pastors, and Dorris teaches the women and children.
The financial support for Missionaries in Action Ministries comes from churches and friends, who admire their stamina and vision to "go into all the world." They did not begin their ministry until after retirement, having attended International Seminary, Plymouth, Florida in 1986-87. They are not tied to any church organization for direction-they depend upon guidance entirely from the Holy Spirit. They are spirit-filled and solicit interdenominational participation in their schools and seminars. They have a group of church pastors and ministers whom they rely on for major decisions in their ministry.
During the past ten years, Revs. John and Dorris have helped mission groups come to Kenya for short visits, allowing them the privilege to participate in crusades, church meetings and on-site visits to their tailoring school schools and Bible Seminaries.
The Wisners spend several months a year on the mission field, coming home to the States for a brief furlough to itinerate, and raise funds to keep the programs going, which includes aid to the pastors of the churches, salaries for the school teachers, and the teacher of the tailoring school.
